---

Gooper Blooper: pretty sure I know what my first event will be
Gooper Blooper: it is very stupid and involves skeiron
Jumpropeman: Armabreaddon?
Gooper Blooper: don't get ahead of yourself, that's the finale
Gooper Blooper: this is just a minor breadcident
Jumpropeman: I thought the finale would be Breadgame
Gooper Blooper: Infinity Bread

---

ivel: saw a Granblue char that looked like he had no nose so Harpy called him a Goopschar
ivel: sadly there's a stronger version of him clearly with one
ivel: rip

Harpy: *blatantly ignores the dudes*
ivel: Helios is my fave lady
Jumpropeman: just that weirdo helios
Gooper Blooper: The Curse is full of eligible bachelors
Gooper Blooper: I'm sure Giovanni's got oodles of fangirl fanart somewhere
Jumpropeman: I'm coming for that Dr. Mario
Gooper Blooper: and the ladies love Mr. L

ivel: oh that, neat
Harpy: Oooh
ivel: I forgot about Giga Wrecker
Gooper Blooper: I knew it wouldn't be Pokemon, of course :V Was wondering what it would be
Gooper Blooper: even if JRM had gotten to that level, Swoosh doesn't even have a release date yet
Jumpropeman: they send me a picture of Sobble and that's it
Jumpropeman: review that
Harpy: but how does it rate
M Sheep: Sobbobble

A New Era Dawns

"Good Evening. This is Slow Weather Jamz, your source for 24/7 weather coverage in, on, and around Olympia. Stay with us, and stay informed.

Here's your weather forecast for Tuesday, April 16."

All across Olympia, restaurants and homes and vehicles alike heard the sounds of the local forecast begin on their TVs and radios. It may be above the clouds, but there was still plenty to talk about regarding Olympia's weather. Temperature and wind speed, for starters, not to mention the city was subject to artificial rain at certain preplanned times to keep the decorative plants watered and to make the city feel a little more 'natural'. Of course, nothing about Olympia was natural. This city was schemed up in a board meeting years ago, and built from the ground up to one day be a flying spectacle. At last, that day had come.

But was the world ready for this? Had Olympia's time come too soon? Or was it time for the people of Earth to step forward into a bold new age of interplanetary alliances?

Kuwahawi, Here We Come!

Dolby smiled and bobbed her head, listening to her tunes as she looked carefully around her room one last time to make absolutely sure she wasn't forgetting anything important. Not only did she have three big suitcases packed with personal items, but she was using herself as suitcase number four, having shoved all the nostalgia into her body she could comfortably carry. Perusing her depleted rack of cassette tapes one more time, she opted to grab one last blank tape and cram it into her mouth to join the rest.

"Dolby, it is time to depart." Odyssey droned from behind her. He carried only a single small case of items - his arcade machines were being shipped to Kuwahawi Island separately.

"Yeah, I think I'm set." Dolby nodded, smiling at her friend and turning her music down. "I still can't believe you're coming to Kuwahawi. I really thought I'd be the only Nostalgia Elemental to follow the Kobbers."

"Las Vegas is my home, and I will miss it. And when this is over, I will enjoy being back home." Odyssey's pupils flicked back and forth, looking at the ransacked state of Dolby's room as she had taken tons of her personal belongings and packed them up. "But I believe your desire to see more of the world is not without merit, and the opportunity to introduce these natives to arcade gaming is one I do not wish to miss. It shall be a worthwhile endeavor."

"Man, this place is gonna feel empty with you two gone."

Dolby and Odyssey turned to see Zenith, Sinclair, and Noir standing in the hallway, crowded around the entrance to Dolby's room. It had been Sinclair who had spoken, and he lowered his camera-like head. "We'll miss you."

"Come back safe, all right?" Zenith said, stepping in close. "I'll keep these two in line in the meantime."

"And when you get back," Noir piped up, "we can throw ourselves a little shindig!"

Zenith chuckles. "Sounds like a plan. In the meantime, have fun. We'll make sure to keep you in mind with music and games while you're gone."

Dolby grinned and hugged Zenith. "Thanks! Don't worry - we might get scuffed up a bit-"

"Might?" Sinclair laughed. "It's the kobbers! And you even said you want to fight in that Brawl they do every summer!"

"Hah, yeah! So we WILL get scuffed up. And probably worse. But we'll come back in one piece, just you wait and see!"

Odyssey began to move to the hall. "I shall miss you all as well. When you next see me, I shall have made arcade history."

Dolby followed Odyssey, and Sinclair came after them - it was he who would drive them to the airport. And as the waving Zenith and Noir vanished in the rear-view mirror and Odyssey and Sinclair made small talk, Dolby held up her smartphone and stared at her wallpaper, depicting her and her two best friends. Soon, she would finally see them again.

Chatzy Madness Volume 285: The Potato Goddess

(Chao leaves to get something to eat, then comes back)

RubyChao: so
RubyChao: the place i was going to
RubyChao: is out of business
RubyChao: notice from the landlord and everything
RubyChao: but my second choice is still around!
RubyChao: shame, though; really hyped for that pita bread
Gooper Blooper: :<
Gooper Blooper: When was the last time you got to go there
RubyChao: hmm... i want to say about two or three weeks ago
Gooper Blooper: Wow, that soon? I'm surprised you didn't overhear anything or see a warning
RubyChao: judging from the notice
Gooper Blooper: they're in Zenith's graveyard of lost businesses now
Spy Somehow Still Snowed In: D:
RubyChao: they didn't pay the rent and it's been shuttered until claims court happens
Spy Somehow Still Snowed In: That sucks Chao
dedvel: there was one really great buffet in our town that I miss
Draco: I know the feeling, Chao.
Draco: Every place in town that's done slices, the burger place I was at when Cray Fish won, the waffle sandwich shop that took over the burger joint's location...
Gooper Blooper: Don't forget that shitty ribs place!
RubyChao: yeah but that's a place that we don't mind going away
Draco: I was TRYING to, Goops.
Gooper Blooper: ;V
Draco: :l
Arthur Bishopfish: there was a place here called Rib Train that my dad always wanted to go to but then he found out it had closed, and every day on the way to work we drive by where it was. We saw it torn down and they're building an apartment complex there, but for some inexplicable reason the Rib Train sign is still up and the city doesn't know what to do about it
Arthur Bishopfish: its shaped like a train too, and we thought it might be some historical thing, but the newspaper did a story saying "It's still up for no good reason"
Gooper Blooper: Rib Train Sign vs Ron Paul Sign
Arthur Bishopfish: what's the status on Ron Paul
Gooper Blooper: Last I saw it was still there, but I haven't looked at it in a while
Arthur Bishopfish: hopefully the snow won't kill it
Gooper Blooper: snow didn't kill it the last four years running so probably not
Arthur Bishopfish: true, but something has been gradually killing it
Arthur Bishopfish: its like a dead tree in the forest
Arthur Bishopfish: it won't grow, but gradually the world breaks it down
Arthur Bishopfish: and then someone puts a new Ron Paul sign in its place
Arthur Bishopfish: thus continuing the circle of life

Frankenstein Jr. entered for the first time

Chatzy Madness Volume 250: I Want To Kill Old Jumpropeman

(A deathtrap set by a Cornwind villain is destroyed before it can kill anyone)

Cornwind Evil: I dangled the chance for JRM and Sheep to massacre characters and then cruelly snatched it away
Jumpropeman: sadly, Melvin Underbelly would have just gummed up those threshers :(
Maid Sheep: Truly
Maid Sheep: I was going to break the nice Junkos and Eleven Thirtys
Maid Sheep: ...break out
Maid Sheep: clearly, I meant break out

---

iKomodo: I used to really like Harry Potter
iKomodo: but then the movies came along and you could tell the people making them just wanted to make money off of it
iKomodo: so I lost interest. I saw the corporate machine behind the silver screen and got away whilst I could
Jumpropeman: and JK Rowling's been none too kind to her series after the books ended with the same motivations
Jumpropeman: that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie could be interesting though
Jumpropeman: since it seems to be an original story at least
iKomodo: I was hype for it, then I found they were stretching it into another fucking trilogy when a standalone film would have done
Jumpropeman: ...no way
iKomodo: and my erection wilted like a Venus flytrap in the presence of a hungry brontosaurus

---

CloudyChao: fun fact of the day
CloudyChao: danbooru is so old, it predates touhou 9
CloudyChao: which came out in 2005
Gooper Blooper: There are a fair few super-old sites now, if by "super-old" you go by, say, 10 years or older
CloudyChao: yeah, it's kind of interesting
CloudyChao: you don't really realize how long the net's been around until you start looking at the age of a lot of popular sites
Gooper Blooper: Youtube is over 10
Gooper Blooper: Chatzy was created in 2001
CloudyChao: >chatzy is THAT OLD
CloudyChao: holy shit
Bree: chatzy is 15! it's a teenager!
Bree: it can almost drive!
iKomodo: Yaaaaay
Gooper Blooper: well now that I look at it
Gooper Blooper: the site DOES look pretty simplistic/old-fashioned, does it not

Gooper Blooper: Skeletons are hard to find in late november
The Spykertaker: DAMN
The Spykertaker: Thanks Ron
Deletons: Thats only slightly less good than a skeleton
Jumpropeman: just like I did way back :V
Jumpropeman: 10/10 would impulse buy again
Gooper Blooper: He got the Smash/Splatoon bundle and also bought Mario Maker
iKomodo: Man, goopsbro

RubyChao: 0/10, would not recommend

---

Pretty Demon Etrohus: apparently this is a very tense movie about potato salad

"So! *clap* What's everyone thankful for this year?"

"Why, my lovely wife, of course."

"Dirky~"

"Jo-Jo~"

"Stretch pants. Oof."

"...I might as well chip in with the required 'family'."

"I'm thankful for everybody!"

"Wonderful! And yes, I agree, Ariel. It's always important to remember family. Where would we be without each other?"

"Not filled with Ireland's entire stock of potatoes?"

"No, silly! Well, that too. Hope everyone has room for dessert!"

"Fuck."

"Oh boy!"

"BECAUSE THE DESSERT WAS A LOAF OF-

CELESTIA, THE DESSERT IS PIE."

"It's always pie!"

"YOU HAVE RUINED THIS UNIT'S JOKE. HOW COULD YOU."

"Skeiron, you can't even eat. Why are you here?"

"THIS UNIT IS THANKFUL."

Skeiron bowed his body, accidentally smacking the table in the process. "THANK."

"...Well, he's trying!"

Widow Maker's Game Room 5: Robot Legions

"And we're back! It's been a while, but I'm here with another game review. Today we're going to be delving into the fascinating world of Xbox Live Indie Games. It has a reputation for being a terrible service full of short, lame, copycat bugfests, but any platform with this few barriers for entry is going to require some sifting to get to the good stuff. First up from the indies is Robot Legions. With me today as my special guest is Celestia Canicco, mother of a thousand roleplay characters."

"So this is that Xbox 360 all the kids are playing these days? Where's the cartridge slot?"
"It uses discs."
"Ohhh!"
"How you can be such a whiz at robotics and yet such a dullard at modern trends is beyond me."

Cutting Room Floor 5

Here's some stuff I forgot to talk about in the last post!

-Browny was almost introduced early twice. I had an introductory post all written up where he dove into the bar to use it as cover, then headshotted a thug before noticing all the people behind him and awkwardly introducing himself. He was introduced for real a few days later during one of the first 2012 season events.

-The other possible Browny introduction is far weirder and goes farther back. He almost showed up during the 2011 season when Cornwind sent that giant alien to the bar. He would have appeared unannounced during the fight and shown a friendliness towards Zephyrus, and afterward Celestia would appear and reveal that Browny was actually a drastically upgraded Skeiron. However, I decided to keep Skeiron in his current form with his limited dialogue and love of bread.

-Speaking of Skeiron, he almost became a tagalong fanboy of Starscream, but wound up being one of sorts for Zephyrus instead when Starscream took like two weeks to recover after his Fite Yer Mates victory.

-The Necronomitron was going to lurk in the shadows for the whole tournament, then there'd be a Fite yer Mates event or something similar where a bunch of bargoers fought him. This was scrapped for two reasons: One, Air Man challenged Necro to a fight. Two, the RP Explosion rapidly made the Necronomitron small fry (and a hero).

-Who remembers this snippet from Hephaestus last year?

("FOOLS, I HAVE CAPTURED THE GIRL, AND SHALL USE HER TO-"

"Get back in thine jar, swit, or I shalt be forced to inject you into that pig I keep in the corner. It has Down's Syndrome.")

Yes, Hephaestus had somehow acquired a small, powerless fragment of Mr. Evil Midnight and was keeping him for (I'm guessing) experimental purposes.

At the end of my introductory post for the Tiamat event, after introducing all those bad guys, a pig with Down's syndrome was going to pop into existence, flying high in the air above the city, then squeal a squeal of challenge. LordPig would have had all the abilities of the Lord, but vastly weaker (although nearly as durable).

I removed LordPig for two reasons: I didn't want any Lord-related drama of any kind to taint the event, and I didn't want Cornwind to feel like I was making fun of him or something, bringing back everyone's villains and then doing this to his.

-Blade was supposed to be the important Storm Biker, what the hell :psyduck:

The Death Toll

Because I like useless statistics and because why not, it's time to count up how many times each of my characters has been killed!

Widow Maker - 3
- Sliced in two vertically in the Big Bar Brawl by Alexander Triden
- Bisected by the Lord
- Bisected by Urkrathos' chainsword

Wow, Widow Maker gets cut in half a lot.Yesterday's death at the hands of Urkrathos is the first time someone besides Elohim revived her, which means it's the first time she's avoided baby form.

Sarah - 2
- Gunned down during the Terminator Squadron fight
- Soul eaten by Atma

Sarah managed to go a seriously long time before her first death, but it did eventually come. She also came VERY close to dying after defeating Draco in Fite Yer Mates, but only just hung on.

Celestia - 0 (!!!)

I think Celestia might be the only major character of the 2011 season to never be killed. Everybody else I can think of either lost a Fite or died in RP. Rebecca could possibly count, although she didn't appear too often. After her you have to go down to characters like the Kirby Brigade and the Five-Mantis Band to find people who weren't killed at some point.

Skeiron - 4
- Crushed by Devastator
- Destroyed by Jaxx in the Fite Week Rumble
- Ripped to pieces by the Servitor shadow clone
- Blown up by Blade

Skeiron seems to die or be severely crippled very easily. I think it's because I can play fast-and-loose with him since he feels no pain and can just be rebuilt by Celestia.

The Martian/Biollante - 3
- Necronomitron - defeated by Zephyrus in FYM
- Nostronomitron - shot down by Celestia during the WarMech fight
- Biollante - Roasted by WarMechs

I'm not certain how many of these can be considered deaths. The Martian and Biollante have never needed outside help to recover from injury.

Hella Jeff - 2
- Destroyed by ROB in the Big Bar Brawl
- Killed by Doomrider in Fite Yer Mates

Hella Jeff also lost to Ironichide in FYM, but this was before losing a Fite was pretty much guaranteed death. I portrayed him as just really FUBAR instead.

Villains - 10
- Marilith - Destroyed by Alexander Triden
- Cagnazzo - Obliterated by a group effort from the bar
- Lich - Taken out during the Tiamat event
- Tiamat - Her death capped off the Tiamat event
- The Storm Bikers - Gale, Hurricane, and Tornado killed by Devil Ed, Doomrider, and Marcus
- The Projects - Projects 30, 31, and 32 murdered by Chet, Marcus, and Widow Maker

What's more notable are bad guys who manage to escape with their lives. So far that's limited to the Excite Bikers and some heel-face turns from Celestia, her Warmechs, Kraken, and the Martian.

The 2012 season has so far handed me two non-villain deaths. I expect quite a few more as we go through the summer - especially because I know my current perfect FYM record of 2-0 is not going to hold if I keep entering characters.

GB Crew Board Meeting

(I wanna do one too!)

A mantis. A white mage. A black mage. Several robots, a steampunk scientist, a horde of unruly bikers... it was quite crowded and chaotic in the small meeting room. A boombox desperately tried to keep the peace with relaxing elevator music.

Okay, people. People, can we bring this meeting to order?

"You quit freakin' staring at me, Bulgrave."

"Or else what, Project 28?"

"I'll sic Sarah on you."

"Ooh, a girl in a wheelchair. Pardon me while I wet myself, Project 28."

"Leave my daughter out of this."

People.

"Gooper is right. Can we settle down, please?", asked a girl wearing a green hood and brown dress.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Don't talk to my daughter like that!"

"What, another one? How many freaking kids did you pop out, anyway?"

"Four," Celestia said coldly.

"Where are the other two?"

They said they couldn't make it. Sick, I think.

"Bah, whatever. Let's get started."

"For once I'm agreeing with Dr. Bullshit. Let's get this over with."

Yes, lets. Okay, first item on the agenda... the Storm Bikers wanted to air a grievance?

"Damn right. We want assurances that we won't be killed off."

"This is the first steady job I've ever held!"

"I DON'T WANNA DIE"

Will you calm down?!

"WHY DID THE BIKER HAVE A SNACK AFTER BEING FIRED? BECAUSE THE PINK SLIP WAS A LOAF OF BREAD."

Listen, you guys are villains. Villain characters have a pretty poor record of survival at Zoofights. If you want to live, I suggest a Heel Face Turn.

"Fuck that noise! I ain't pulling a Celestia, and the boys won't either."

"YEAH!"

"Stop discriminating against the working villain, you ass!"

"WE'LL SUE"

Uuuugh.

"So when is the fight happening, anyway?"

Don't know. I want to see if we can reach Erebus first. It'd be nice to have Eshe or Erebus or Pech or even Antoinette onboard, and I know Tornado is aching to match bikes with Doomrider.

"That fire-headed mutant's bike is far inferior to Cyclone."

Yes, yes, heard it a million- Sarah, what are you doing.

"Just having a snack."

"Heh heh. Good ol' little sis."

Put that away, there's no eating in the meeting room.

"I hope you brought enough donuts for everybody."

"She didn't even bring enough donuts for herself! Pfffft hahahaha-"

"Am I ever going to get to do anything else?"

Please have patience, Electra. There are an awful lot of you and I don't know if-

"So i have been THINKING......... about a SUGESTOIN to improve the RP......."

"Oh for fuck's sake what is he doing here"

"What am I looking at?"

Jeff, go away.

"The RP has too many WORDS and SAYINGS! Ther should be more short posses like in the goog old days that I was there for."

Jeff, that ship has sailed. Big character rosters and subplots everywhere in this bitch.

"god DAMMMMMMNNNNNNNNN"

Yeah, whatever. Does anyone have any other issues they'd like to address?

"I was thinking about adding a moral to our subplots."

A moral? Sarah, this isn't Aesop's Fables or a Saturday morning cartoon. This is Zoofights RP!

"That doesn't mean we can't use our positions to help educate!"

"Uh, you got a little frosting on your cheek there, kid."

"Thanks, Electra. Eheheh..."

What exactly did you have in mind, Sarah?

"I was thinking clean energy."

...What?

"You know, going green! We could have the bikers switch to electric bikes, and outfit the slums with LED bulbs, and-"

"Advocate steam power and you've got my support."

"Sarah, this is ridiculous. And green technology sucked in the 90s, anyway. Also Dr. Bozo supports it and you'll never catch me on board with any plan of that bastard."

"I'm also in favor of eating, breathing, and playing Sintendo games."

"Oh, FUCK YOU."

"Can I at least tell people to recycle?"

Sarah, I don't think we need any morals in our- DON'T YOU GIVE ME THOSE EYES.

STOP.

STOP THAT.

MEETING ADJOURNED, MEETING ADJOURNED!

The Changing of the Gang - Part Three

Skeiron locked onto the bikers and prepared to fill them with lead and lasers. He'd gotten into plenty of scrapes like this on his regular city patrols, and didn't expect Blade and his gang to be any different.

Blade saw Skeiron's slightly dented eyes light up, and he quickly leaped backward towards his bike, still clutching his trusty lead pipe. In one swift movement, Blade got onto his bike and hit reverse, swerving around a nearby building and out of sight. Skeiron ignored the other bikers and chased after the one who'd attacked him. Gale waved over his fellow yellow-wearing biker Gust, while the red-clothed bikers Tornado and Hurricane exchanged a few words, glancing at the WarMech as it stomped towards Blade's hiding place.

All four biker henchmen saw the lead pipe strike Skeiron again as soon as he reached the corner of the building. Then the robot let loose with his weapons at last, but Blade roared forward on his bike and dodged the attacks, speeding just out of range. Skeiron swung his body around, trying to lock on to the pesky biker.

Gust and Gale urged their bikes forward. Gust's bike slammed into Skeiron hard from his left side, sending him staggering. Gale was next, lunging out with his own lead pipe (rustier than Blade's) and managing a dent. Skeiron spun on one leg from the force of the impact, before activating his jetpack and rising into the air.

"Shit!" Hurricane yelled. "We can't reach the damn thing!"

"YOU can't," Tornado shot back as he pulled out a pistol. "I got it covered."

Tornado began firing at Skeiron as the WarMech tried to aim at the bikers, which were all zipping around on their bikes. Tornado was a good marksman - he was still driving around, but every so often he'd casually point his gun at his enemy and squeeze off a shot. A few bullets dinged Skeiron's armor, and one actually embedded in his armor. However, the bullets couldn't get past the Ultralisk plating installed over Skeiron's body, unlike the pipe shots.

At last, Skeiron connected with his laser on Gust, who yelled as his arm was burned and he lost control of his bike. The motorcycle tilted and skid, crashing into Hurricane's bike and leaving both gang members in a heap on the ground with their rides.

Blade, meanwhile, was forming a plan. Even though Manhattan wasn't his usual turf, he knew the layout pretty well from reconnaissance missions, and knew that the Excite Bikers had set up a series of ramps and platforms to do mad tricks on when they weren't making a ruckus. Hopping off his bike, he walked over to the collection of ramps, half-pipes, and metal boxes and began to haul them around.

Skeiron swung his body and embedded the street with bullets. One dinged off Gale's helmet, and the frightened biker quickly sped off to seek shelter. Tornado grit his teeth and aimed carefully as Skeiron turned to face him, still hovering in the air.

One instant, Skeiron's eye was glowing, a laser about to shoot into the red biker's chest.

The next instant, Skeiron was stumbling back, kicking his legs and blaring a warning siren. Tornado had managed to shoot out his laser eye, and the bullet was stuck, preventing regeneration.

Things only got worse for Skeiron as Blade returned to the fray, using wheelies to jump from rooftop to rooftop. The leader of the bikers urged his machine forward, and drove clear off the roof of the nearest building. Blade reared back with his lead pipe and swung, knocking Skeiron out of the air and sending him to the road with a teeth-grinding shearing of metal. Blade touched down, his motorbike's powerful shocks absorbing most of the impact. Blade and Tornado climbed off their bikes and approached the downed mech.

His gears were grinding together roughly, his weapons were all offline (at least for now), and he could barely lift himself to face his opponents, but Skeiron remained resolute. He took one slow step towards the two bikers. Another. Another.

Blade grinned under his helmet, and beckoned the WarMech closer. He reached behind him into a storage compartment on his bike, and if the scene of a heavily damaged WarMech struggling to keep fighting against two opponents in the city streets wasn't deja-vu inducing enough...

"Come on then, ya fuckin' toy. I've got a present for ya..."

Tornado, realizing Blade's intentions, quickly backed away. The leader of the bikers pulled out a small black object, yanked it to remove a piece, and tossed the rest at Skeiron's feet before quickly backing up.

The grenade exploded, kicking up dust and smoke and obscuring Skeiron from view. Blade shielded his eyes and waited patiently, his lead pipe twitching in one hand.

When the smoke cleared, all that remained of Skeiron was a pile of twisted, maimed wreckage and what was probably one of his feet.

KO

Blade dusted himself off. "Well! Guess that settles that. Come on, Tornado, let's round up the others and get a move on.

Tornado laughed as he got on his bike. "You still got it, boss!"

"Damn straight!"

The two bikers high-fived and puttered off to assist Gust and Hurricane.

-CELESTIA'S LAB-

"UNIT SKEIRON IS ONLINE."

"Oh, Skeiron, Skeiron, Skeiron. You really do take after Zephyrus, don't you?"

Celestia sighed and patted the chassis of her creation. Skeiron looked down at her.

"SKEIRON TO CELESTIA. SKEIRON TO CELESTIA. YOU ARE SHRINKING."

"No, Skeiron, I just had to put your consciousness in the ED-209 body until I can get around to building a new WarMech body. What happened, anyway?"

"THIS UNIT GOT ITS ASS KICKED."

"So I gathered."

"REQUESTING ASSISTANCE."

"How about you tell me about the ones who took you out?"

Skeiron proceeded to relate (in ridiculously detailed and obsessive fashion) the appearance and mannerisms of the bikers while Celestia took occasional notes, nodding.

"Hmm. They could be anywhere in the city. They could be doing anything to anyone, too. In my experience, the gangs of this city are quite unpredictable. At least I'm confident they won't find the lab. It's not like this is Sarah's house or anyth-"

Celestia froze and slowly put her hand to her mouth.

"Oh god. Skeiron, I think we'd better start this hunt sooner rather than later. My daughters aren't safe."

Celestia went to her toolbox and produced her staff. Skeiron stomped a foot in anticipation.

"Let's move."

The Changing of the Gang - Part Two

Excite Red had been lucky. He'd managed to reach the old garage he and his lackeys liked to hang out in, and had been able to escape with his life. There was safety in numbers.

Now, as he and what few of his compatriots remained roared off into the distance, Blade and his red-wearing top two associates Tornado and Hurricane stood over the crumpled bodies of several of Excite Red's men. Blade took out a dirty rag and wiped his trusty lead pipe clean of blood.

"Well, boys? Looks like the city's ours."

Tornado looked confused. "What about that 'guardian', boss?"

"Oh yeah. Heard a few things about that guy. Got any details?"

A biker in yellow walked over. "I do, boss."

"Spill it, Gale."

"They say the Guardian used to be a kobber-"

"I know that already! What about his powers, his abilities?"

"I hear talk some people say he's got a fine machine gun. And if you hurt him, he heals himself right before your eyes!"

Blade crossed his arms. "Normally I'd say you're exaggeratin'. But I know how fucked up those kobbers are. Listen, those freaks are tough, but get one alone and sheer numbers will take 'em out, believe-"

Blade was interrupted by a whoosh of jet engines.

"HE'S HERE!" Gale yelled as he scrambled for his bike.

Blade smacked his free palm with his lead pipe. "C'mon out then, 'Guardian'."

Whirring mechanical footsteps betrayed the guardian's appearance. Skeiron the WarMech turned a corner and stared at Blade and his gang.

"THIS UNIT DETECTED A DISTURBANCE."

Skeiron stomped forward, moving not towards Blade but to one of the downed Excite bikers. the WarMech leaned over the corpse, studying it carefully in Scan Mode. Gale edged over to Blade and leaned in.

"Whatta we do, boss?"

Blade's eyes smiled as he readied his lead pipe. "I thought you'd never ask."

Tornado leaned in on Blade's other side. "You sure about that? This thing looks like trouble."

"Do I ever turn tail from trouble? Bring the sucker on. Time to put it in its place. This is no city for heroes. Not anymore."

As Skeiron obliviously scanned the bodies, Blade crept up behind him and raised his pipe...

(1)

...And with the sound of a small-time blog villain once again proving to be more than meets the eye, Blade FLOORED Skeiron with a single swing from the pipe. The WarMech landed in a crumpled heap atop the body of a green Excite biker, leaking mechanical fluid.

"Hah!" Blade swung his pipe around in his hand like a parade baton. "Some guardian."

Gale raised one finger. "Uh, boss?"

"What?"

"Remember that thing I said about him healing right before yer eyes?"

"Yeah, it was bullshit after all. Look at him, he's-"

Standing up.

"Uh..."

Skeiron ran a scan on his internals. All seemed basically functional, but that blow would take a while to fully recover from - his stance was unsteady, and his walk limping, but all weapons were online, as well as his flight boosters and - most importantly - the humor module. Skeiron straightened up as best as he could and belted out the awesome 90s action hero line he'd been practicing in private for weeks.

"THIS UNIT BELIEVES IT IS TIME TO TOAST SOME BREAD."

"I told ya, boss."

"SHUT UP AND KILL IT!"

FYMBLE: The GB Crew

So Saberwulf got the idea to make hypothetical versions of our characters as they would be in a traditional 2D fighter. I've been making silly plans in my head for imaginary video games pretty much all my life, so I am down with this.

See his post here.

Widow Maker
Origin: Alternate Universe Zoofights
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Hair?
Fighting Style: Ambush
Weapons: Claws, spear, shield, flamethrower, nail gun
Special Moves: Cloaking device, extended jumps (flight)
Super Move: Elohim transformation. Widow Maker's angelic upgrade fires off a massive holy laser (Think Samus' Final Smash from SSBB).
Assist Character: New Marlinnium does a flyby or two.
Alternate Costumes: Scarf
Fatality: Widow Maker throws her opponent at the screen and they break the fourth wall and fall into reality.
Health: Medium-low
Speed: Moderate walking speed, but fast at blocking, jumping, and dodging

Attack Ideas:
-A downward swipe with both claws
-Grabbing onto the enemy and biting down with the mandibles
-Widow Maker shoots both claws forward, sticks into the enemy, and throws them over and behind her.
-Shield block

Widow Maker would be all about hitting and running, with some projectiles from her downright silly weapon collection tossed in. She could also cloak herself, sorta like Reptile.

Sarah
Origin: The unnamed world of Final Fantasy 1
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: An orangish blond
Fighting Style: Defensive
Weapons: Mythril Hammer, Thor's Hammer, Crystal of Water
Special Moves: Cure, Protect, Holy
Super Moves: Judgment Bolt, the Holy/Thundaga combo. Also Holy Bullet, the spinning self-projectile attack she used in the Dr. Triden fight at Tridenland.
Assist Character: Her sisters jump in with minor spells like Cure and Dia, or attack with wooden hammers and staffs.
Alternate Costumes: Devout costume (The cat-hooded ensemble Meat Boy gave her), Fancy dress
Fatality: ...Probably a Friendship would be more appropriate.
Health: Low, but she keeps on refilling it with magic
Speed: Medium-low

Attack Ideas:
-Mythril Hammer blows are fairly fast but weaker
-Thor's Hammer is devastating but slow
-Hammer block, hammer jab, she's pretty damn useless in melee without the hammer
-Water spray from the Crystal of Water

Sarah is an interesting idea. A slow character with slow, powerful moves but low HP would normally seem pretty worthless, but her magic would come out faster than hammer swings and could restore her HP.

Celestia
Origin: FF1
Eye Color: Yellow
Hair Color: Purple
Fighting Style: Glass Cannon
Weapons: Staff, various tools
Special Moves: Fire, Blizzard, Thunder
Super Moves: Quake, Flare
Assist Character: Skeiron in his ED-209 costume. He doesn't give 20 seconds to comply.
Alternate Costume: Fancy Dress
Fatality: Turns the enemy to stone with Break.
Health: Low
Speed: Medium-low

Attack Ideas:
-Swinging the staff
-Using the staff to shove an enemy away to make some distance
-When all else fails, clobber the foe with a wrench

Unlike Sarah, Celestia would have no way to heal herself. Instead, she'd focus on hitting fast and hard with SPELLS, SPELLS EVERYWHERE before her opponents strip away her meager HP.

Skeiron
Origin: Take a wild guess
Eye Color: Well uh...
Hair Color: Good question.
Fighting Style: Tank
Weapons: Self
Special Moves: Laser, toast shooter, regeneration
Super Moves: Nuclear
Assist Character: A Killbot from Tridenland's security force. "THANK YOU. HAVE A NICE DAY."
Alternate Costumes: Top hat and tie, 8-Bits
Fatality: Sets enemy on fire with superheated laser shot, makes "BECAUSE THE OPPONENT WAS A SLICE OF TOAST" joke
Health: Medium-high
Speed: Medium

Attack Ideas:
-Skeiron swings his body downward in a sort of headbutt
-Skeiron fires a few bullets from his machine gun port
-An awkward-looking kick
-A sliding tackle using his jet boosters

Finally a character that isn't frailer than Jigglypuff. Skeiron would be a beast at range but his melee game is mediocre and easily blocked.

Hella Jeff
Origin: A horrifying dimension of jpeg artifacts
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color: Usually brown
Fighting Style: Incomprehensible
Weapons: Unknowable
Special Moves: oh god look away
Super Moves: jesus christ what is he doing to them
Assist Character: Sweet Bro, of course. Probably on a skateboard.
Alternate Costumes: A costume that makes him look like Helluva Jeff, plus the ability to play as Sweet Bro with Hella Jeff assisting, but the attacks don't change
Fatality: The opponent becomes SBAHJ-ified.
Health: Hard to tell, it jerks around and seems to empty and fill at random
Speed: Variable

He would be a terrible but hilarious character, and possibly able to slaughter his opponent if he gets lucky. Lion Jeff may be involved.

Birthdays and Anniversaries in RP-Land

First off, let's give a big hand to Warhammer 40k. Erebus' lifeblood celebrated 25 years of GRIMDARK IN SPACE last Saturday. Hooray for the eighties!

White mages, mage knights, and Kirbies will be pleased to know that tomorrow is iHOP's Free Pancake Day. No word on Free Black Legend Day yet.

During ZF6 we celebrated the birthdays of a couple characters - Rain had a complete party and Widow Maker used hers to shed some light on her past (and get a nail gun!). I've contemplated character birthdays and this is what I came up with.

Widow Maker's birthday, October 17, is the same as mine because why not. It works, though - this gave her creators a solid six months to train and grow their Zoofights entrant, register with Zoofights before April, and participate in the tournament before she was taken away by Gamma Constrictor just before her first fight.

I recently decided to make Sarah's birthday July 12. This is the day Final Fantasy 1 was released in North America. Similarly, Celestia's birthday is December 18, the day FF1 came out in Japan. While Sarah has the benefit of her birthday being at the very beginning of the RP Explosion and thus justifiably skippable, Celestia's falls smack dab in the middle of the Christmas reunion.

...Oh god hold on *checks*

So close. It would have been perfect justification for Celestia's rage at Father Squid and Doomrider fighting if they had been ruining her birthday, but that conflict took place on the 19th.

I'm trying to work out ages as well. Widow Maker's easy - she's 2. Born in a vat six months before ZF5, ZF5 happens, ZF6 happens, hey presto she's two years old. I assigned Celestia the age of 41 in the post that partially revealed who she was (before the Warmech attack), which makes her 42 now. She had to be old enough to give birth to Sarah, but young enough that she was in decent physical shape. I wanted to play a doting and sometimes out-of-touch mother, but not an elderly person (that's Jumpropeman's job). Since she left her family when the white mages were in their early teens/preteen years, Sarah was the second youngest, and there was a decade between the departure and the reunion, that makes Sarah somewhere around 22 years old. Like Antoinette, she doesn't quite act like an adult despite technically being one. In Sarah's case I chalk it up to living in, quite literally, a fantasy world where she went on adventures with her sisters but got little "real-world" experience or socialization. Her lack of a name for much of her life adds to this.

As for Skeiron? He was a generic soldier in a fleet. Neither Tiamat nor Celestia would have cared when WarMech-3 was built. We can, however, guess from his low unit number that he was probably built a while ago. He can't be older than 10, and probably isn't younger than 7 or 8. I imagine the first WarMech took Celestia a long time, and later ones came faster as she learned how they work.

Well, that's my sperging over when pretend characters were pretend born, whooo. Anyone else have birthday ideas?

City of Beasts - Sarah

(Yeah, I wrote one. I was bored.)

How?

How was she caught?

She was usually so good at this. Sneak in, assassinate, sneak out. Simple as that. But she'd let her guard down, and that's when they'd gotten her.

The eight-foot mantis stood bound in a shimmering chain. One end of the chain snaked up into the arm of a fifteen-foot bipedal mech. The mech led the insect down the street, approaching a mansion that was pretty well taken care of compared to most of the city.

Standing at the door was a robot that looked fairly similar to the one that had captured the bug, except it was noticeably smaller - about the height of a human. It stared straight ahead, unmoving, unthinking. Unlike the larger mech, which was manned, this one was automated, and possessed nothing but a simple set of directions and protocols to follow.

The manned mech spoke. It was the voice of an adult woman. She would sound very pleasant if not for the metallic rasp underneath her voice. Having your dying body fused with machinery to keep you alive can do that to you.

"Let us through, Model 3."

Stiffly, the robot shuffled to one side, allowing the mech to lead the insect into the mansion. As the mantis walked forward through the halls, she glanced back and forth at the paintings and photographs lining the walls. There were many portraits, but the one thing they all had in common was that a certain girl was front and center in every single one - often the only subject. The mantid's eyes showed her disgust and contempt. The self-centered little witch.

As they drew closer to an ornate door, they could hear someone on the other side talking much louder than she needed to.

"-unacceptable. Completely unacceptable. You seriously think you can skimp out on us like that? Listen, it's the full 2000 dollars you owe us or else I release the details on that affair of yours."

"Y-you wouldn't."

The mech stopped short of the door, the pilot unwilling to interrupt. The insect captive listened keenly.

"Ms. Atari, please. Show some sense, all right? I don't wanna ruin your career. Whether you're exposed as the person you really are is up to you."

"I... I don't have it right now, but please-!"

"Ms. Atari, I like you. So I'm gonna cut you a break. I'll give you an extra week. No more. Come back to my office a week from today, 5 PM. If you're late, I'm sending Mommy after you."

An audible gulp.

"Y-yes. Of c-course. Th-thank you, Ms. Triden."

Light, cheery laughter in response. "Please, call me Sarah. Now get outta here and make some money. Don't disappoint me."

The other woman excused herself and hurriedly left, only stopping to glance in terror at the insect and mecha.

"Sarah, sweetie? I've gotten the one you wanted."

"Oh, you shouldn't have, Mommy! Bring her in!"

The mecha strode into the room, the bug in tow.

"Miss Widow Maker! It's been a long time!"

Sarah Triden, the pampered girlfriend of the mob boss Alexander, was sitting behind a desk beaming at her reluctant guest. She broke eye contact to take a big bite out of a donut from a box on her desk.

Widow Maker looked at the pampered girl with disgust. With her white robe and excess pounds, she looked something like an overstuffed pillow. At the same time, she got the feeling that if Sarah had smiled - genuinely smiled, not this sickly-sweet faux cheeriness - she would be quite pretty despite the weight. There were rumors that Sarah Triden sometimes did smile like that - but only to her boyfriend, when nobody else was around. She seemed to be offended by the presence of anybody else.

"Let's get this shit over with, Sarah." the mantis hissed.

"Oh, Widow Maker. Always business with you, isn't it? No time for small talk."

There went another donut.

"Don't you think you've had enough of those?"

The chains around Widow Maker tightened as an electric shock raced through them. The mantis screeched and sank to her knees.

"I don't think you're in a position to be making fun of people, Widow Maker!" said Sarah, her voice still sounding pleasant but with a very slight hint of barely-restrained rage behind it.

For a moment, nobody said anything.

"I still haven't forgiven you for what you did to Two."

"Pff. You should be glad I got to her before anyone else. I do my work efficiently and as quickly as possible. I'm quite certain she didn't even feel pain before she died."

Sarah's tone finally turned ice-cold. "You killed my sister. Stop trying to sugarcoat it."

"Oh, this is rich. Sarah Triden telling somebody to lay off the sugar."

"ZIP IT."

Widow Maker stayed quiet.

"Do you know how I felt when I was told about her death, Widow Maker? I was very upset."

"She was doomed to die anyway. If I hadn't gotten her, someone else would have. What, would you prefer it if Fang Four had gotten her?"

Mention of Four gave Sarah pause. The color drained from her face.

"W-well..."

"She was a marked woman. Too outspoken. Too straightforward. Talking of uniting the city again, like it used to be, instead of getting some sense and moving out. Someone had to shut her up before she did something dangerous. And compared to what could have happened to her, I did her a goddamn FAVOR."

Sarah remained quiet, her chair creaking as she rocked a little and ate another donut, puzzling things over. At last she sighed and shook her head.

"I guess you're right. So I'm going to make you a deal."

"A deal." Widow Maker repeated skeptically.

"That's right. I'd like an alliance. Can you talk with your friend the spy and focus your efforts elsewhere?"

"What do you mean 'elsewhere'?"

"Just leave me and Alex alone, all right? We won't bother you, you won't bother us, and you're free to focus your efforts on Optimus or Erebus or somebody."

"You know as damn well as I do that Spy couldn't keep an alliance if his life depended on it."

"Well, here's a better idea, then! Align yourself with us completely! Break away from his little gang. I wouldn't be surprised if he was planning on backstabbing you right now. Backstab him first, why don't you."

Widow Maker looked thoughtful.

"What's the catch?"

"No catch! You just work for me and Alex and do whatever we say. But stay with them, so they don't suspect anything."

The mantis took a moment to mull things over.

"Fine. You got a deal. I was planning to do something about that guy anyway. Don't trust him. I'd shake on it but I'm kinda still wrapped in chains here."

"Great! All right, Mom, you can lead her out and let her go."

The mech swung around and led Widow Maker away. Sarah watched them go, a smug smile on her face as she took a swig from a bottle of soda.

"Well! That worked out all right, I guess."

Sarah glanced over at the monitor on her desk, which showed a blip moving down the hall. After a moment, two blips were onscreen instead of one. A message appeared at the top of the screen.

"TAG PLANTED."

"Good ol' Mom always knows how to keep track of everybody!"
